Norgan aka Nathan Organ

  • Started playing with computers in early high school - 1990
  • Excelled above classmate and started hosting computer open nights, fixing teachers home computers and showing a high level of interest in computing and IT in general.
  • Participated in BBS and very early internet technologies.
  • Studied Electrical Engineering in 1997 and left early to start first job.
  • Started as a PC Technician in 1998 and worked in retail computer stores for a few years, demonstrating a high level of aptitude in both PC repairs, warranty planning and procurement. Also experienced retail sales, using my passion for computers to demonstrate the quality of PC's that I built.
  • Always insisted on quality over cost while maintaining a balance for cost v quality.
  • Moved up through roles and was introduced to servers and networking in 2000, working with SMB's to provide cost effective and efficient solutions meeting operating requirements in varied businesses.
  • Started working with web hosting technologies in 2002 while working for a small retail shop providing shared hosting to many businesses in and around Sydney's inner suburbs.
  • Built a strong customer focussed consulting methodology to enable the delivery of cost effective and efficient solutions to SMB's including server, wireless and hosting technologies.
  • Started working with Medium sized companies in 2004 and worked on establishing a discipline suitable for working within teams and larger businesses.
  • Performed several contracting roles throughout the next few years that exposed me to varied companies and technologies. This has formed me into a great all-rounder but also allowed me to build some specialties such as; Active Directory, Web Hosting and DNS and MS SQL server.
  • Started my own company, Norgan Networks, where I delivered consulting, products and services to various businesses throughout Sydney.
  • Worked with a biotech company that exposed me to scientific equipment and establish a dynamic skillset to work with the equipment as well as delivering an IT solution behind them in 2006.
  • Moved into a much larger company in 2009  that exposed me to a much larger infrastructure. I went from a new team member still learning to a technology specialist in VMware ESX and vCenter as well as Exchange, Active Directory and branched into project management and planning. Also expanded my Web hosting skills into corporate application support, in which i was considered the teams core specialist.

I now work as a Senior Systems Engineer supporting .NET and IIS. As well as topology design and planning and project planning and coordination.

I have learned all but a small number of my skills by saying no to no technology, not being afraid to ask questions of my colleagues and by learning from those around me at any opportunity and last but not least by my own exploration of technologies. Setting up my own environments where it has not been afforded to me in any role.

I am a strong logical and methodical thinker, not afraid to conceptualise. An evangelist in gadgets and technology, mainly in Windows 7 and Windows Phone 7 now. Never back down from a debate and always willing to explore idea's beyond my own.
